On The Links™ is a freeware add-on for Links Pro™, the Macintosh version of the great golf simulator by Access Software.
On The Links™ will randomly select playing conditions (wind and green speed) for you. As a veteran Links Pro™ player, I find this useful because it insures I play each of my courses under varying conditions. Also, if you're playing against an opponent, it's a good way to generate unbiased conditions. The way OTL™ is set up, it will give you new playing conditions any time you select it. You can change conditons after each nine (or after each hole, if you like).
OTL™ requires System 7, a 68020 or better Macintosh, and 64K of free memory.
INSTALLATION
1. Put the OTL™ folder anywhere you like.
2. Open the folder and make an alias of On The Links™.
3. Put the OTL™ alias in your Apple Menu Items folder.
USING ON THE LINKS™
1. Start up Links Pro™. (NOTE: On The Links™ is only designed to work when Links Pro™ is running. If you select OTL™ when Links Pro™ isn't running, OTL™ will just beep and then quit.)
2. At some point prior to starting your Links™ round, select OTL™ from the Apple Menu. OTL™ will then display a small dialog box with your course conditions.
3. To dismiss the OTL™ dialog, just click the mouse or hit any key.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to generate new conditions while you are playing Links™.

If you like On The Links™, you may want to check out PGSS™, my personal golf score management program. It's $10 shareware and, IMHO, worth every penny. It can be found at fine Mac archive sites all over the world, including the Info-Mac, UMich and U Texas archives. Look for the name "pgss". If you want more info, just e-mail me and I'll be happy to send you URLs for the places where you can get PGSS™.
